October Newsletter

What We Are Learning...

Reading-  We will be answering questions about details and information in a text.  Writing an opinion using reasons to express their main purpose.

Writing- We will be starting to write about science by creating lab reports and science books.

Math- Group 1 is currently working on Chapter 4: 2-digit addition and should be having a test at the beginning of the week (11/21/16)
Group 2 &3 is having their test on Ch.3 tomorrow and will begin Chapter 4: 2-digit addition next week.  
We are all constantly working on problem solving and how to explain our work in words.

Social Studies- We are still continuing to work on Unit 1: Communities.

Science- We are ending our work on soil, sand and silt. They will have an assessment to wrap this unit up at the end of next week (Novemeber 14th)
We will begin to work on Forces and Motion after the assessment on Earth Materials.

Important Dates:

- Field trip to Hall of Science on Tuesday, Novemeber 29

* Please send in permission slips with money in either an envelope or a ziploc bag, labeled with your child's name and the trip.
November 11- Veteran's Day- NO SCHOOL!
November 18- Movie Night @ 6pm
November 15- Thanksgiving Celebration/ November Birthdays/ Small Moment Publishing Party @ 9:00 a.m. in our classroom.  All are welcome and hope you can attend!
November 24-27: Thanksgiving Recess- Schools is closed!
November 28- Awards Night
